Want Happiness? It’s Time To Lose The Checklist

Happiness? Success? What’s it all mean?

I wonder if you paused for a sec to consider those questions…what would you say?

And, when you’ve come up with your answer would it really come from the things you value, or a checklist you were handed by someone else.

I’m no stranger to the expectations placed upon us by other people. The older I get the more questions people seem to have, and the more bothered they seem to be if my answers for what I want life to look like and how I define success and happiness differ from their own.

There’s no right or wrong of what we should be chasing in life. We’re all born with a different set of skills, interests and talents. We all have different dreams, aspirations and goals. There’s things that interest me that would bore you to tears and there’s things you love that nobody could pay me to do.

But, despite this - we often get sucked into other peoples metrics and measurements of what constitutes a good lif, what equals happiness and what defines success.

The problem with this?

If you’re chasing someone else’s checklist - even ticking off every single item will not make you happy.

From the moment we're born, we're bombarded with messages about who we should be and what we should achieve. But in the midst of all this noise, it's easy to lose sight of our own dreams and aspirations.

The things that light you up. The dreams that make you come alive.

It’s time we chose another way. It’s time we defined life on our terms.

With me and want to dive deeper! Tune into the Dare To Thrive Podcast episode where I chat through the struggle of feeling pulled into everyone else’s expectations and how we can redefine what success and happiness means to you.
